On This day in Sonics History: Scoring his Sonics career high of 34 points, Ricky Pierce led the Sonics to a 124-108 win over the Indiana Pacers. Eddie Johnson scored 32 off the bench for the Sonics, with Derrick McKey chipping in 22 points and 11 rebounds. Rookie Gary Payton scored 16 points to go along with his 15 assists. Indiana Pacers sixth man, Detlef Schrempf, added 16 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Pacers in a losing effort.
