What If…

12/4/13

By: Erik Schmidt

As I sit in my apartment on a lowly Tuesday sports night watching the Kings vs Thunder game I can't help but wonder, what if…

Tacoma Native and UW Alum Isaiah Thomas put on a show during the fourth quarter of Tuesday nights game when the Oklahoma City Thunder visited the Sacramento Kings. The smallest man on the court was lights out and outscored the entire Thunder team 21-19 in the fourth quarter, only to have his game tying shot rim out losing 97-95.

The heroic 4th quarter performance included 21 points on 8/14 FG, 2 Steals and an assist. Thomas was shooting from deep, cutting to the rim and hit a step back that was eerily similar to the one UW basketball fans will remember forever. Two Words- "Cold Blooded" (YouTube Video)

Isaiah Thomas is now leading the entire NBA in 4th quarter scoring (8.6) above superstars like James Harden (8.4), Kevin Durant (8) and LeBron James (7.6).

The electric 5'9" guard left me with an overwhelming desire to know what if… What if the Kings had moved to Seattle? What if instead of playing in Sacramento, that game was played at the Key? What if Isaiah was living up to his Gus Johnson-given name and playing for the Sonics in Seattle in front of his hometown… What if…
