Dirk Nowitzki: Back in the saddle for the Dallas Mavericks

Dirk Nowitzki is back on the saddle in Dallas - Ronald Martinez

ESPN's Marc Stein has reported on Twitter that, "Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks have agreed to terms on three-year deal."

In what may be the most expected move this summer, Dirk Nowitzki has reportedly agreed to a three year deal with the Dallas Mavericks, rumored to be for $30 MillionThe deal contains a player option after the second season (in July 2016) and preserves the no trade clause, per Marc Stein, ESPN.

As expected Dirk agreed to less money than what he could get in the open market or with the Mavericks, to ensure that owner Mark Cuban has the cap space to sign free agents. Star free agent, Carmelo Anthony met with Cuban in Dallas Wednesday as the Mavs made their pitch.

Time will tell if Dirk will spend his twilight next to another burgeoning star. Dallas has made deals this summer to satisfy their desire to field a championship team, trading for Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler. With Dirk back in the fold, the hope of recreating the magic of the 2011 championship team is well underway.
