Youngbloods: Rookie Power Rankings for 11/28/2013

While the old regime still reigns, some new challengers to the crown have appeared.

Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

On this day of thanks, we tell you which teams have the most to be thankful for when it comes to young players. Here are this week's rookie power rankings.

Rank Prev Player Reason
1 1

Michael Carter-Williams, Philadelphia 76ers

Same old story. MCW continues to be the leader in almost every statistical category, including points (17.8), rebounds (5.6), assists (7.0), steals (3.1), and effeciency (20.2, nearly double the second place competitor). He is also fourth in blocks (0.9) and fifth in three point field goal percentage (40.3%).

Victor Oladipo, Orlando Magic

As locked into the number one spot as Carter-WIlliams is, so too is Victor Oladipo locked into number two. He continues to be second in points (13.1), steals (1.8) and efficiency (11.5). He also ranks in the top ten in three point percentage (32.6%, ninth), rebounds (3.9, seventh), assists (3.6, third), and blocks (0.7, seventh).

Ben McLemore, Sacramento Kings

McLemore continues to be frightfully inconsistent, with games of 15 points, followed by games of 5 points and then back again. He is averaging 8.8 points per game, good enough for third best among his class. He is shooting 37% from long range. He is only averaging 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists, two numbers you'd like to see increased if he wants to stay on this board.

Trey Burke, Utah Jazz

Burke makes his first appearance on the list, much to the delight of Kevin Nesgoda. Since returning from a hand injury, Burke has averaged 8.5 points, 3.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.5 steals per game. His most recent game was also his best, with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. He also had 5 turnovers, though. Burke is now the starting point guard for the Jazz and may rise up in the rankings with more playing time.

Kelly Olynyk, Boston Celtics

Olynyk barely hung on to his spot, almost giving way to Nate Wolters or possibly Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Kelly is fifth in the class in scoring at 7.5 points per game, second in rebounding at 5.4 per and fourth in efficiency with a rating of 8.6. He has also extended his free throw streak to 17 without a miss.
