A strange thing occured tonight, Rashard Lewis had the worst +/- on the Sonics at an astounding -17. Luke was -12, Reggie -11 and Ray was -7. Not good for 4 of your starting 5 players. Danny Fortson and Flip Murray were both +10, and Nick Collison was +8. Dirk Nowitzki was +22. Dirk killed the Sonics in the second half.

Rashard led the Sonics with a +16 Help Value, followed by Vlade at +10. Dirk again led the Mav's with +19. hv=Reb+Ast+Blk+Stl-TO

Sonics had a big rebounding edge tonight negated by shooting (and making) 10 fewer free throws. Dallas won this (statistically speaking) at the white stripe. Dirk going 15 for 15 is tough, if he misses 2 or 3 things are different at the end. Ray going 1 of 7 from 3pt. also did not help. Too many little chances throughout the game that if it went the other way the end result would be different. That's the difference between winning and loosing though.

Something I've been noticing lately is that when Ray Allen goes baseline, if he doesn't get a layup bad things happen all too frequently. He turns it over, forces a bad pass that does not set up the next player, and tonight he got an offensive foul on one (his 3rd). Might be something to watch. I didn't get to see the whole game, but when I saw him do this it got ugly. If you TiVo'ed it, let me know if you see it.

I'm getting to the point where I'm beginning to hope that Luke quits shooting. He needs to work out whatever it is, but it's killing him/us. He's a better shooter than what he's shown this year.

The difference in the game was found in the runs made by both teams. Each team had two good runs. In the 2nd Q Sonics had a 12-2 run (+10) and in the 4th a run of 11-0 (+11). The Mavs had a run in the 3rd of 17-5 (+12) and 4th of 18-4 (+14). The difference between these 4 runs is 5 points in favor of the Mavs. One more defensive stop on both Mavs runs and the Sonics win. The Sonics led almost the whole game, and then lost it at the end. Last year the Sonics won these types of games, obviously not this year though.
