Potapenko, who in years past longed to play back East, has re-signed with the Sonics. This deal has been "awaiting the results of a physical" for long enough that some started to wonder if it was actually going to happen.
I was a little surprised to see how well Pot shot the ball last year:
Last season, his ninth in the NBA, Potapenko appeared in 33 games. He shot 51.7 percent from the floor and 87.1 percent from the foul line, both marks career highs. The 6-10, 285-pound center missed the first six weeks of the season due to a fractured fourth metacarpal in his right hand.
Hopefully he can leave training camp healthy. The deal is rumored to be $6.3 million over two years.
