I dare you to pronounce his name...SONICS SIGN FREE-AGENT CENTER ANDREAS GLYNIADAKIS

SEATTLE , Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006 – Seattle SuperSonics General Manager Rick Sund announced today that the Sonics have signed free-agent center Andreas Glyniadakis (GLEEN-ya-DAH-kiss). The 7-1 native of Greece has played professionally in both the United States and Europe , including a stint with the Atlanta Hawks this preseason. To make room on the roster, the Sonics requested waivers on guard Kareem Rush.

Glyniadakis signed with Atlanta on Sept. 29 and appeared in five preseason games for the Hawks, averaging 3.2 ppg, 1.6 rpg and 7.4 mpg. Glyniadakis split time last season between Roanoke and Albuquerque of the NBA Development League and averaged 10.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 1.3 bpg (.535 FG%, .816 FT%) in 39 games (22 starts). He tallied 21 points and nine rebounds in the D-League Championship game as Albuquerque held off Fort Worth to win the title.

The former Pistons draft pick (58th overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft) played in training camp and preseason with Detroit in 2005. He played professionally in Greece from 1998-2005.
