Seattle - J. Petro 1
An interesting mix of +/- in this game. Minus: Johan Petro (-10), Flip Murray (-10), Vlade Radmanovic (-8), and Rashard Lewis was -2 in the first quarter before he got hurt. Everyone else was zero or above. Positive: Ray Allen (+18), Robert Swift (+17), Nick Collison (+16), Damien Wilkins (+10), Luke Ridnour (+9), and Cleaves was 0 in his clean up moment. Only Harrington and Stoudamire finished the game positive for Atlanta, and both were only +1.
Help Value (hv=Reb+Ast+Blk+Stl-TO)
Robert Swift and Nick Collison led the team at +15, followed by Ray Allen at +13, Luke at +9, and Wilkins at +8.
A very strong showing from Nick Collision tonight. 17 pts, 15 boards (6 offensive). Much of that work was done before half time. I was a bit perplexed with him shooting so well that they didn't go to him a bit more in the second half, especially while Ray Allen was shooting pretty poorly. You don't go away from Ray, I understand that, but you can intentionally go to Nick. They won, so I won't gripe too much.
Swift again with an impressive stat line. 29 minutes, 6 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 foul. Petro added 15 minutes, 8 points, 3 rebounds, 1 block and 3 fouls. That's a combined 44 minutes, 14 pts, 16 rebounds, 4 blocks and 4 fouls at the center position. How many weeks does it take Jerome James to get those numbers??? Thank you Zeke.
Some bad shooting nights for some of the Sonics. Ray Allen was 7-22 and 3 of 13 inside the arc. Luke was 4-15, and Vlade 2-7.
Hopefully Rashard will be OK and they left him out for precautionary reasons. Thigh bruises (I think that is what it was/is) can be minor or pretty severe.
The Sonics finished the game with a 23-7 run, nice to be on the positive side of a run at the end of a game.
Damien Wilkins won this game at the free throw line. Doubt me? Look at it. Atlanta made one more FG (a FG3) but the Sonics took 9 more FT and made 11 more FT. Wilkins was 12-13 from the stripe.
