The Sonics today provided more details about their draft day festivities. In a change from past years they are asking for people to print tickets (free of charge) from their website. I encourage anyone who wants to attend to do so ASAP. We will be meeting an hour early at Ozzies Bar and Grill to hang out and talk hoops. Walking to the EMP at 4pm.
SONICS TO HOST 2006 NBA DRAFT PARTY
AT EXPERIENCE MUSIC PROJECT
Fans in Attendance will Receive Commemorative Sonics 40th Anniversary Gift
SEATTLE – The Seattle SuperSonics will tip off their 40th Anniversary celebration by hosting a 2006 NBA Draft Party from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28 at Experience Music Project (325 5th Ave. N., Seattle). The event will feature ESPN’s live coverage of the 2006 NBA Draft along with a special visit from a member of the Sonics coaching staff and a live radio broadcast hosted by the Sonics’ David Locke.
The event is free and open to the public, though fans are encouraged to reserve their space by logging on to supersonics.com. The event will feature specials on Miller Brewing Company products as well as free appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages compliments of the Revolution Bar & Grill, a new Schwartz Brothers Restaurant property located inside EMP.
Throughout the 2006 NBA Draft, Locke, the Sonics’ radio play-by-play announcer, will be displaying his live blog along with ESPN’s draft coverage on EMP SkyChurch’s main projection screen. Locke’s blog will feature an exclusive look inside Sonics headquarters as the coaches and basketball staff navigate the draft. Immediately following the Sonics’ first pick (the 10th overall selection), a representative of the Sonics coaching staff will make a visit to the party for commentary.
Following the Sonics’ first selection, KTTH 770 Radio will broadcast its “Sonics Draft Hour Special†with Locke hosting live from EMP from 6-7 p.m. The broadcast will mark the official tipoff of the Sonics’ partnership with KTTH, who will serve as the radio home of the Sonics beginning with the 2006-07 NBA season. KIRO Radio’s “Sportstalk with New York Vinnie†will also be broadcast live from EMP from 7-9 p.m.
The Seattle SuperSonics are set to tip off their 40th season in franchise history this fall. Fans in attendance at the NBA Draft Party will get an exclusive look at the Sonics’ 40th Anniversary logo for the upcoming season and will receive a commemorative Sonics 40th Anniversary gift upon entering the party.
