NY Vinnie was relieved of his duties at KIRO yesterday.
Vinnies stature and his East Coast mannerisms Vinnie has been an easy target to poke fun at. That shouldn't discount his impact on the Seattle Sports scene. The guy has been here forever and was a key figure in efforts to save both the Seahawks and Mariners. He also has sits in that rare group where, even though lots of people poked fun at him he was universally liked as a person. Vinny is a really nice and engaging guy.
I am tremendously concerned about the repeated blows to sports media in this town. David Locke, Frank Hughes, and now Vinnie were all big proponents of the SuperSonics and their loud voices will be silent at a very critical time. It becomes even more essential for the fans themselves to speak on our own behalf.
