Sonicscentral.com has learned that former UCLA player and assistant coach Gerald Madkins has accepted a position with the Sonics to be their head scout.
Madkins played guard for the Bruins during the Don McLean/Tracy Murray/Darrick Martin era. He played for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 1993-94 and 94-95 NBA seasons. He also spent short stints with the Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors during his NBA career. He played with the Rockford Lightning of the CBA for five seasons and also played in France and Spain.
Madkins also served as a player scout for the New York Knicks during the 2003-04 season.
