The Mavs just beat the everliving crap out of the Pistons, dominating them on both ends of the floor.
The Mavs are led by the dominating offensive force that is Erick Dampier, who hasn't missed a shot yet in 2008 and holds the franchise record for consecutive made baskets.
So why should you watch tonight? Couple reasons for me. One, Josh Howard. The guy is just an amazing player to watch but his versatility on defense is something I can only pray I'll see out of a Sonic player someday. It'll be interesting to see how the Sonic coaching staff chooses to counter Howard defensively. Two, I want to see if the Sonics even try to go inside on Diop and Dampier or if it'll just be the same run of lazy chuck n' duck we've been accustomed to seeing for the last few years. Dallas is a top 5 team in the NBA. Will the Sonics rise to the challenge or be content to get their asses kicked upside down in the first five minutes of the game?
I learned a lot from Don Nelson when he was coach and GM of the Mavericks. He told me something early on, that opened my eyes. I forget the exact conversation, but we were talking about players, and I asked him why he didnt talk to a specific player about something that was going on. What he said was that "The worse [sic] evaluator of talent is a player trying to evaluate himself."
Oh so true.
Edit: Possible that Luke may start tonight. Stay tuned.
