Let's get a little Sunday game action going here.
We have the San Francisco 49ers travelling to Carolina to take on the Panthers. The winner of the game gets a trip to Seattle to face the Seahawks.
Both teams present prime matchups for the football viewing audience next week in the NFC Championship game, so I'm hoping this one goes off without any major injuries and one of my all time favorite Terps, Vernon Davis, can help lead the 49ers to victory.
Prediction: 49ers 17, Panthers 12
On September 20th, 2009 the New Orleans Saints defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 48-22 in the Eagles home opener. That following February the Saints won the Super Bowl.
On September 12th, 2010 the Green Bay Packers defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-20 in the Eagles home opener. That following February the Packers won the Super Bowl.
On September 25th, 2011 the New York Giants defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 29-16 in the Eagles home opener. That following February the Giants won the Super Bowl.
On September 16th, 2012 the Baltimore Ravens lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, 24-23 in the Eagles home opener. That following February the Ravens won the Super Bowl.
On September 15th, 2013 the San Diego Chargers defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 33-30 in the Eagles home opener. The Chargers fate has yet to be decided.
In some random twist of horrible fate, the team that plays and usually beats the Eagles in the home opener the previous four years has gone on to become Super Bowl champion. The Chargers are playing with house money and completely decimated a Bengals team that was undefeated at home, but made the mistake of starting a ginger at QB in a playoff game.
The Chargers have recently beat Denver at home too.
It's like two lines of destiny are colliding at Mile High on Sunday afternoon.
Oh, who to pick!?
Prediction: Broncos 33, Chargers 24
