According to an article by King 5's Chris Daniels, Seattle and King County officials were recently paid a visit by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and his deputy, Bill Daly.

[King County Executive Dow] Constantine spokesman Frank Abe described the meeting between Bettman and Constantine as a "meet and greet" and that "nothing was really brewing right now." A [Seattle Mayor Ed] Murray spokesman and an NHL spokesman declined immediate comment about the terms of the meeting.

Though the "NHL first" option is still dead as a mud fence post, it's good to see that dialogue between the league and local officials continue.

It's also nice to feel wanted.

The article also confirms one thing that we've known for a long time around here: Dow Constantine is a friend and ally to our cause.

Sources have told KING 5 that Constantine has privately been meeting over the last several months with potential hockey investors, who are interested in bringing a team to Seattle.

UPDATE ON THE CLIPPERS SITUATION

Sources continue to indicate that we are not getting the Los Angeles Clippers.

For example, when asked if Seattle might get the Clippers, a source with knowledge of the situation replied, "No."
