After trading superstar Kevin Love in return for this year's number one pick Andrew Wiggins, as well as last year's number one pick Anthony Bennett, the Minnesota Timberwolves are a team that is sure to be short on experience, but long on athleticism and excitement.
The Timberwolves are looking to get that excitement going early. Once the team concludes with their media day at the Target Center today, they will then head down to the Bresnan Arena in Mankato, MN to officially start their training camp. To kick things off, the team is having a "Midnight Madness" event that they are calling "Dunks After Dark." The event starts at 11 pm local time (that's 9 pm to those of us on the west coast) and will feature a team scrimmage and, more importantly, a slam dunk contest between Wiggins and Renton's own Zach LaVine.
The event is free to the public but there is no word as of yet if our own resident Minnesotan, Chris Meirose, will be in attendance. For those of us who can't make it, the event will air on NBA TV. It should be nothing short of thrilling and I like the local boy's chances, especially if he pulls off anything resembling the ridiculousness that he displayed at the Seattle Pro-Am.
