Sonics Rising would like to wish former Washington Husky and Seattle Supersonic Detlef Schrempf a very happy 52nd birthday! Detlef, born in Leverkusen, Germany, attended Centralia High School before joining the Huskies in 1981. He was the 8th pick in the 1985 draft by the Dallas Mavericks.

A three-time All-Star, Detlef spent six years with the Sonics and was a key member of the Western Conference Championship team in 1996. During his time in Seattle, Schrempf averaged 16.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game and shot 49% from the field. Schrempf retired in 2001 and joined the Sonics coaching staff in 2006. He currently works primarily at Coldstream Capital, a Seattle-based wealth management firm, and with his charity, the Detlef Schrempf Foundation, raising funds for Northwest children's charities.

So, from all of us here at Sonics Rising, happy birthday, Det!
