FUN AGAIN!

I was going to write an article about fun times being right around the corner, but that’s not accurate. Nothing it “right around the corner”. This is fun already.

Season tickets for the NHL went on sale today and the results appear to be wildly successful.

Amazon are you paying attention?

NBA are you paying attention?

“Let’s just say we get an NHL team first. And let’s say we knock it out of the park with the NHL, sell out everything, maximize revenue, have a great five year run with the NHL. Why do people not believe, understand, or think that that will ultimately catch the attention of the NBA?”

This

is amazing!

Good job everyone who threw down a deposit.

Hopefully things keep moving quickly. I’m ready to get mad about whatever team name they choose.

Went in with friends on this.

I want the NHL to be successful here because they want to be successful here.

I can just see the discussion now

Bonderman: Umm Tim i think you designed it a little too small capacity.

Leiweke: Oh no its just fine… (scurries off to the design team) psst i think its not enough capacity quit redesign it for have another 1k-2k seats.

Design person: but tim i don’t think its possible.

Leiweke; I didn’t say it had to be pretty.

Ducktape me to the ****ing ceiling if you have to

Can't wait

Will have to fly in for opening night!

Yeah, we're getting a hockey team

Well...I think it's official

We’re apart of the club now!

my only concern is

will there be tickets left for the single game ticket folks?

Pretty sure they will cap season tix

And have single games available. That’s pretty standard.

Yeah, hearing cap numbers of about 13k?

I expect them to cap

the season tickets at somewhere around 13K per season. That leaves the other seats open for individual and package sales.

I wonder what opening night ticket prices would be for the general public

It seems like they were at least $200 for Vegas

Can't wait to hear

The response by the NHL. Winnipeg sold 13k in 17 mins so pretty comparable.

Seattle though is more impressive

Given A) we are not a traditional hockey market and B) Hockey isn’t a religion here like it is in canada

Absolutely.

Eh, Winnipeg has 710K people in it.

That’s pretty impressive considering their smaller size.

It’s not a contest, though, and I’m glad we so emphatically put to bed this idea that we wouldn’t buy up tickets at a going rate.

Another factor to consider is Winnipeg had their team ripped away from them originally in a very Clay Bennett-esque manner.

So even though they are a smaller size, they were super passionate about getting a team back. Ever since 2011, every single Jets game has been jam packed. To be in the same ballpark as them regarding a season ticket drive has to be extremely pleasing to Bettman at the very least.

So imagine what it would be like in Seattle...

if a season ticket drive was held for the return of the NBA/Sonics, and what those first few years of operation will be like once the NBA is re-established here?

But given hockey is a religion in canada

it would make sense though for winnipeg to do that great. I was just saying Seattle being a non traditional hockey market and not few hockey as a region.

Even then given the site crashed we could have done more than Winnipeg if ticketmaster had the capacity to handle the crowd.

Just being in the same conversation is a win

Winnipeg is in hockey mad Canada and we put up a comparable showing. That’s impressive w/o getting into who is better.

Winnipeg

sold 7100 of those tickets before hand…they only sold the remainder (5900) in 17 minutes

The pre-sale set aside exclusively for standing ticket holders for the city’s AHLteam, the Manitoba Moose, as well as for corporate sponsors reached 7,158 by Friday. The remaining 5,842 commitments were quickly gobbled up after the online window opened Saturday.

You guys and gals rock!

Plain and simple.

Great job on making this happen and if the NBA doesn’t look at this and thinks, "Damn, we’ve got to get back into this market ASAP" thatn they’re just incredibly dumb.

This is truly remarkable.

I think i forecasted 45 minutes to hit 10k and i thought that was aggressive. Frankly, if Ticketmaster had the capability, the numbers may have been 20k tickets in the first 5 minutes. I think there will be a lot of very bummed-out people that will be on a wait-list for no other reason than systems getting overwhelmed.
