Seattle Storm defeat the Los Angeles Sparks 68-61

Neil Enns

Despite trailing big early on, the Storm rallied in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to take the lead over the Los Angeles Sparks for good. The Storm held onto their lead in the 4th and won the game by a final score of 68-61. Number 1 Draft pick, Jewell Loyd, led the team in scoring again with 13 points. Crystal Lanhorne led the team in rebounds with 7 and added 12 points. Sue Bird chipped in with 9 points and led the team with 5 Assists.

The Storm have now won their 3rd game against Los Angeles this season and only their 4th win all season. However, their win today has actually boosted the Storm back above both the Los Angeles Sparks and the San Antonio Silver Stars and into the 4th and final playoff spot in the West.

A big key to today's victory was limiting turnovers, the Storm only had 11. Meanwhile, they forced Los Angeles into 21 turnovers on the other end.

The Storm's next game is Saturday July 18th at 6:00pm in Seattle against the Atlanta Dream.
