Recent draft picks Brandon Carlo (Boston Bruins, first round) and Parker Wotherspoon (New York Islanders, fourth round) will attend their clubs' rookie camps.
Forwards Ty Comrie (Los Angeles Kings), Maxwell James (Arizona Coyotes) and Austyn Playfair (Arizona Coyotes) were also invited to camps. Playfair's father, Jim, is an Associate Coach with the Coyotes. Tyler Wotherspoon, brother of Parker, plays for the Calgary Flames and formerly a member of the recent Portland Winterhawks dynasty.
"This is always a great experience for our players," GM Bob Tory said in a press release. "We are proud of their accomplishments and know they will represent our organization well."
All five players must miss the upcoming Red Lion Hotels Preseason Tournament in Kennewick September 9-12 in order to attend. That will allow the Americans to keep a handful of players who may have been sent home after training camps.
Younger players looking to find a roster spot will likely have two extra weekend's worth of games against other WHL talent to impress the staff.
