For the last year all we have heard out of the Kyrie Irving camp was how badly he wanted out of Cleveland, but after inking his new five year contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he better get comfortable-he will be there until at least the summer of 2020.
The terms of the five year contract were the maximum amount allowed under the current CBA, paying Irving $90 million.
With this deal now in place it makes Irving the unquestionable leader of this team going forward. With David Blatt coming in as the new head coach and rookie phenom Andrew Wiggins being a fellow number one overall pick, this definitely is going to be Irving's time to shine. He should take the new kids under his wing, make sure he learns Blatt's offense, and get ready for October.
Now that he is paid, we need to see the next level from Irving.
