Why this conversation matters (just a little, tiny bit)

I for one am actually enjoying the conversation of the last thread. It’s a great group therapy session for me and I think people are bringing up a lot of good, and somewhat subtle points about this VERY strange set of circumstances we find ourselves in.

I want to point out a polite comment with good intentions from the last thread and why in some ways comments like it create a situation where our “respect” for Sacramento has to have some boundaries and our blatant self-interest in getting this done has to be acknowledged.

HaroldKatz states ”How on earth does the Maloofs backing out of an arena deal “fall on” Sacramento? Sacramento kept up its end of the bargain, Stern said as much last year. I think you’re confusing Seattle’s inability to get an arena deal before the team moved to OKC with Sacramento’s situation.” Continue reading

Here We Question???

Please note that this post is intended to reflect my personal feelings on experiences from 2006 - 2008 and not a judgement on the actions of fans of the Sacramento Kings. Continue reading

Denver Nuggets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Game Thread

Even though Sunday is the day of all the marquee match-ups, Saturday offers a potentially very fun match-up between the Denver Nuggets and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The game is on NBATV at 4:30PM PST

Kyrie Irving vs. Ty Lawson is going to be a blur/exciting one-on-one head to head match-up. Two of my favorite point guards in the NBA.

There have been a few trade rumors surround Andre Miller and Timofy Mozgov. There have been inquiries about both. The Nuggets seem to be determined to keep Miller, but there might be a team out there willing to roll the dice on Mozgov.

Could the Nuggets flip Mozgov for another wing player? Another power forward?

And because the NBA trade is so much fun. Here is a completely baseless trade of Josh Smith to the Lakers with Gasol and Meta World Peace as the other main components.

Won't happen, but the NBA trade machine is so much fun.

Which City In Washington Should Host an NBA DL Team?

In my article from last week, I talked about my desire for Chris Hansen to establish an NBA DL franchise in the State of Washington, once an NBA team is re-established in Seattle. Specifically, I was pining for the return of the Yakima Sun Kings, who won five CBA championships in their existence.

Due to population size and airport issues, I also noted that Yakima might not be the best choice for a franchise. We had a good conversation about potential sites, which included Yakima, Tri Cities, Spokane, Vancouver, Bellingham, Wenatchee, and Kent.

I would like to delve a little deeper in that conversation by answering three questions. Specifically, what is the average population of NBA DL host cities? What is their average attendance? How do the Washington cities above compare?

Open thread (I’m watching Bulls at the Nuggs)

The Nuggets can really get up and down the floor.
The Bulls are great team and on the ball defenders.

If Rose was on the floor I think the Bulls would be able to keep up with them on offense. Regardless, by the end I expect the Bulls to lock the Nuggets down. This will be close all game.

Will the NBA realign the divisions?

If the Kings do indeed relocate to Seattle, it puts the NBA in a bit of a predicament. The current division alignment is already a bit… um… let’s say interesting. Check the map.

Now if the Kings were to move to Seattle, that would essentially put a team in the Pacific division that is located north of a team in the Northwest division. Now that would be a complicated map. The quickest fix would seem to be moving the Sonics back to the Northwest division and moving Utah to the Pacific. Maybe someday they’ll address that Memphis situation, too…
