The Spokane Chiefs released goaltender Garret Hughson today, opting to keep 18-year-old Tyson Verhelst and 17-year-old Matt Berlin.

We wondered what would happen with Hughson in our Chiefs notebook earlier this week, given his performance this season.

So where does this leave the Chiefs?

Well, it leaves the team with two goalies to use and develop for this season and - presumably - the two seasons after this one. Berlin has yet to appear in a game this season, while Verhelst has a .921 save percentage in the five games he's appeared in.

Releasing Hughson meant the Chiefs then had two 20-year-olds. Each WHL team is allowed three, so today the Chiefs acquired Luke Harrison. Harrison was previously released by the Kamloops Blazers and scored 23 points last season.
