Although the SuperSonics are not currently playing in Seattle, the hoops dynasty of the city lives on. There are many players around the league who have some ties to the Emerald City and its surrounding area, be it that they were born here, played high school or college ball here, or were a member of the Sonics before the team relocated. Here are all of the local ties around the league:

Assistant coach Bob Weiss played for the Sonics in 1967-68 and was an assistant coach for the team from 1994-2005 and head coach for 30 games in 2005-06. Assistant coach Stephen Silas is the son of former Sonic Paul Silas, who played for the team from 1977-1980. |

Newly-signed guard Aaron Brooks is from Seattle and attended Franklin High School. Assistant coach Adrian Griffin was on the Sonics roster from February to August of 2008, but never played a game for the team. |
