2014 NBA Free Agency: Indiana Pacers Sign Guard C.J. Miles

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

The Pacers look to add to their bench scoring by bringing in a very versatile veteran to help them with those woes.

The Indiana Pacers had some issues toward the end of the season with the scoring off their bench and thought they had found the answer when they traded Danny Granger for Evan Turner at the trade deadline.  Turns out they were very wrong on that end.

The Pacers have come to terms with the very versatile and athletic guard/swingman, C.J. Miles.  Terms of the deal have been reported as a four-year deal worth $18 million.  This will be Miles' third team as he heads into his tenth season in the NBA.

Over his career Miles has averaged just under nine points a game.  His last two seasons in Cleveland he averaged 11.2 and 9.9 points, while shooting nearly 40% from three respectively.  That is one of the main reasons the Pacers grabbed him.  They desperately needed his three point shooting.  It is also probably the same reason they signed Damjan Rudez out of the Spanish League.  The Croatian forward is known for his long distance marksmanship.

Miles has started games in the NBA at point guard, shooting guard and small forward and gives coach Frank Vogel many ways to use him off the bench.
