Fantasy Basketball: Week Nine Waiver Wire Options

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Phil finds seven intriguing waiver wire options for Fantasy Basketball owners to consider for week nine of the Fantasy Basketball season

Week nine of the Fantasy Basketball season begins Monday December 21, 2025 and even though there aren't any games scheduled on the 24th there's still a full slate of NBA games on the slate. Let's see what is available on the waiver wire for week nine!

Teams with four games this week are the Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers and San Antonio Spurs.

The Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors each have two games this week. Every other NBA team has three games on their schedule.

Week Nine Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Options

Shooting Guard/Small Forward: Evan Turner and the Celtics have four games this week and over his past five games Turner is averaging 10.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1 steal while playing almost 30 minutes a night. During that same stretch Turner is shooting 44 percent from the field and 81 percent from the line and is available in just over 65 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Small Forward: Matt Barnes and the Grizzlies have four games this week and over his past five games Barnes is averaging 11.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal playing just under 30 minutes a night. He's also knocking down 2 triples a night and shooting 45 percent from the floor and 83 percent from the line during that same five game stretch. For the time being Barnes is in the starting lineup and is available in just over 75 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Power Forward/Center: Clint Capela and the Rockets have four games this week and over his past five games is averaging 8.8 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist with 1.5 steals and blocks in just under 22 minutes a night. Awesome 66 percent from the field and miserable 27 percent from the line so unless you've decided to scrap free throw percentages I wouldn't add him in a roto league. Capela is currently available in just over 65 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Power Forward: Ersan Ilyasova and the Detroit Pistons have three games this week and over his last five games he's averaging 11.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, less than 2 assists with nearly 2 blocks and just over 1 steal per game including 1.6 triples playing 28 minutes a night. Solid 45 percent from the floor and decent 71 percent from the line and Ilyasova is available in just over 70 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Power Forward: Jon Leuer and the Phoenix Suns have three games this week and over the past five games Leuer is averaging 12.4 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal including 1.2 triples in 26 minutes a night. He's also an exceptional shooter averaging 57 percent from the floor and 87 percent from the line and is currently available in just over 55 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Point Guard/Shooting Guard: Jeremy Lin and the Charlotte Hornets have three games this week and over his last five games Lin is averaging 15.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists with 1.6 blocks per game on 31 minutes a night. During that same five game stretch Lin shot 48 percent from the field and 75 percent from the line. These numbers are a bit skewed as Lin received a start on Thursday and scored 35 points on 47 minutes but he's still solid coming off of the bench and is available in just over 65 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Small Forward: Omri Casspi and the Sacramento Kings have three games this week and over the last five games has averaged 15 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3 assists and nearly 2 triples playing 36 minutes a night. Solid 48 percent from the floor and less than stellar 53 percent from the line and is available in just over 60 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Good luck this week Fantasy Basketball owner and as an added bonus have a listen to some great NBA talk including our all NBA "Back Alley" team from my show this past week!!
