Grantland Was in Seattle for Pro-Am vs. Drew League
"10 Lessons From a Night in Seattle With Jamal Crawford, Baron Davis, and More" is what Grantland's Andrew Sharp titled his piece about the Seattle Pro-Am vs. Drew League game played last Friday night. The most relevant point, in our opinion of course, is his #8: "The spirit of the Sonics will never die."
It's a great piece, extolling the ways in which local NBA players will continue to not let the pro game die in Seattle.
Do have to take issue with one thing, though. Sharp states,
While we’re here, one of my favorite parts of any Seattle trip is the inevitable Sonics conversation. I will be in Seattle 30 years from now, and this will still be happening. This time it took place around 12:30 Saturday night, when a friend’s older brother started in. "I just can’t believe that Seattle doesn’t have a team," he said. Then a pause. "In what world, in what reality, does it make sense for f**king Oklahoma City to have a team and not Seattle?"
Thirty years from now, the Sonics conversation will be about the resurrected team getting ready to hit the floor for their 26th or 27th season, not a missing team.
