Fantasy Basketball: Week 18 Waiver Wire Options!

Phil has six waiver wire options for Fantasy Basketball owners to consider for week 18 of the Fantasy Basketball season!

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

The All-Star break is here and in most cases we have a shortened week 18 that begins Thursday February 18 and ends on Sunday the 22nd. Depending on your league the playoffs are just 4-5 weeks away. Please check your league settings for the trade deadline and also any position limits unique to your league. This is what I have for you this week.

The Chicago Bulls and the San Antonio Spurs have three games this week.  The Sacramento Kings and Houston Rockets have one game this week. Every other NBA team has two games this week.

Week 18 Waiver Wire Options

Shooting Guard: Danny Green is aptly nicknamed "Icy Hot" and over the past five games Green has been on the hot side of things averaging 12.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1 block and a steal and nearly 3 triples a game. Green averaged 32 minutes a night during that span and shot 46 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the line and is available in 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Point Guard: Norris Cole and the New Orleans Pelicans have 2 games this week and over the past five games Cole has taken  the place of injured guard Tyreke Evans and is  averaging nearly 27 minutes a game for the Pelicans. During that span he's averaged 12.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and almost 5 assists. He'll also knock down the occasional triple and shot 39 percent from the floor, was perfect from the line and is available in just over 60 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Small Forward: Stanley Johnson and the Detroit Pistons have two games this week and over the past five games Johnson is averaging 12.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3 assists and is knocking down 1 triple a night. Johnson averaged 36.6 minutes a night during that stretch and shot 38 percent from the floor and 90 percent from the line. Johnson is now starting and is available in just over 60 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Small Forward/Power Forward: Aaron Gordon and the Orlando Magic have 2 games this week and over the past five games Gordon has racked up two double doubles while averaging 7 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1 steal and nearly 2 blocks a games. Averaging 29 minutes a game during that span is a bonus. Gordon is only shot 29 percent from the floor and 76 percent from the line during that stretch but his season long field goal percentage of 46 percent indicates a slump. Gordon even knocks down the occasional triple and is available in just over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Small Forward: Robert Covington and the Philadelphia 76ers have two games this week and over the past five games he's averaging 11 points, 6 rebounds, nearly 2 triples and 2 steals a night playing 26 minutes a game. During that same stretch of games Covington shot 36 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the line. Covington's greatest asset is triples and there are nights when he can knock down 7 of them like he did against Sacramento and other nights when he can't make even one so keep that in mind. Covington is available in 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Center: Tyson Chandler and the Phoenix Suns have two games this week and if you need a replacement for Marc Gasol over Chandler's last five games he's averaging 7.6 points and 9.2 rebounds including two double doubles. Chandler shot 71 percent from the floor and 72 percent from the line during that same five games stretch and is available in just over 55 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Good luck this week Fantasy Basketball owner and I will leave you with Thursdays all NBA show where we discuss trade rumors, the top ten Eastern and Western Conference teams plus Euroleague and a closer look at the Euroleague scoring race!
