Fantasy Basketball: Week 17 Waiver Wire and Sleepers

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Phil has seven waiver wire options for Fantasy Basketball owners to consider for week 17 of the Fantasy Basketball season.

For most of us week 17 of the Fantasy Basketball season is a short one beginning on Monday and ending on Thursday. Please be sure and check your individual league trading deadline, limits restrictions and anything else that might affect your strategy.....here is what I have for you this week.

The New Orleans Pelicans have three games this week. The Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat and New York Knicks have one game this week and every other NBA team has two games on their schedules this week.

Week 17 Waiver Wire Options

Small Forward/Power Forward: Over the past five games the Orlando Magic's Aaron Gordon has been averaging a double double while shooting 40 percent from the floor and just 52 percent from the line. Over those past five games Gordon has been getting nearly 32 minutes and with two games this week Gordon should be good to go and is available in just over 55 percent of all major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Shooting Guard/Small Forward: The Boston Celtics Evan Turner has been doing a little bit of everything over the past five games averaging 13 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.4 steals a game. Over those same five games Turner is playing almost 28 minutes a night and shooting 56 percent from the floor and is perfect from the line. The Celtics have two games this week and Turner is available in just over 55 percent of all major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Small Forward: The Portland Trail Blazers have two games this week and Al-Farouq Aminu has been solid over his past five games averaging 10.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.6 steals and just over 1 triple a night. During that span Aminu is playing 30 minutes a night and shooting 41 percent from the floor and 72 percent from the line and is available in just over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Power Forward/Center: The Chicago Bulls have two games this week and over the past five games Taj Gibson has been solid averaging 8 points, 9 rebounds and just over a blocked shot per game. During those five games Gibson averaged 35 minutes a night, shot 44 percent from the field and just 61 percent from the line and is available in just over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Power Forward: Ersan Ilyasova has been solid over his past five games averaging 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1 steal and almost 2 triples a night. Over those past five games Ilyasova has been playing 29 minutes a night while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 84 percent from the line. The Detroit Pistons have two games this week and Ilyasova is available in just over 60 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Small Forward/Power Forward: The Memphis Grizzlies have two games this week and no one has been hotter over their last five games than Jeff Green. During that span Green is averaging 23 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2 triples and just over 1 steal per night. During this hot streak Green is shooting 58 percent from the floor and 88 percent from the line while averaging 30 minutes a night and is available in just over 50 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Small Forward: Stanley Johnson has been extremely solid over his past five games averaging 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and almost 2 steals PLUS nearly 2 triples a night for the Pistons. During that same five game stretch Johnson is shooting 44 percent from the floor and 86 percent from the line in just over 30 minutes a night. The Pistons have two games this week and Johnson is available in just over 70 percent of all Major Fantasy Basketball leagues.

Good luck this week Fantasy Basketball owner and I will leave you with my NBA Thursday show featuring the Miami Heat, OKC Thunder/Golden State Warriors preview, Indiana Pacers, Euroleague and a closer look at this week's NBA Power rankings.
