Busy Week Ahead

So here we are one month out.

Thursday Sacramento has their plan release, Tuesday they will be talking about it and April 3 we expect some further indication.

I think it is great to see this community evolving and am just thrilled to see the feedback we got from last nights game thread. What do people want to see more of? Game coverage, draft coverage?

The Waiting Game

Is it any kind of milestone when you can say “only three days until we have one month left to go?”

I’m ready for this to be over. Sad to see the wind coming out of the sails for a lot of good and reasonable Sacramento posters and feel sorry for the angry voices that are replacing them.

The cumulative news of the last 10 days has been really decidedly been in our favor. We have amazing new pictures of our building and tickets lists, while they found out their offer is low and have been presented with a series of real and difficult issues to overcome - land use and timeline obstacles. Their city manager has stated clearly that he is not certain that he can meet next week’s deadline. Continue reading

Basketball Diary

Today’s news of a suddenly emerging, 100% privately funded arena plan in Sacramento brought back a pretty amazing memory that I had actually forgotten.

On April 2nd, 2008, just a few months before the Sonics relocated to OKC a press conference was called to unveil “The Emerald City Center” a futuristic open air, 100% privately funded building concept that would be built on Pier 46. The project was backed by Sonics Legend Fred Brown and David Bean. Continue reading

Here’s a crazy concept

I’m going bonkers today.

Not only am I sidelined with the third flu this year (Last time I bother with a flu shot) but to make it much worse I have to spend the entire day reading commentary from both cities comparing Hansen’s waiting list PR stunt with the HereWeBuy movement in Sacramento.

So let me explain the real difference here: Continue reading

Its getting ugly out there

So first let me say that Aaron Bruski does not deserve to have NBC anywhere near his title. I can deal with the fact that he is a homer because, lets face it, I’m a homer too. What I can’t deal with is the fact that he’s a sloppy journalist who cherrypicks quotes and regularly incorporates unattributed statements as a basis for his articles without looking for any verification or outside expert opinion. Is there any doubt that each and every time he says “sources close to the situation” he is just regurgitating what he is being told to say by members of Kevin Johnsons staff? If you are going to claim to be a journalist then you should have journalistic standards. The dude is something between a blogger and a stooge. Its annoying. Continue reading
