So first let me say that Aaron Bruski does not deserve to have NBC anywhere near his title. I can deal with the fact that he is a homer because, lets face it, I’m a homer too. What I can’t deal with is the fact that he’s a sloppy journalist who cherrypicks quotes and regularly incorporates unattributed statements as a basis for his articles without looking for any verification or outside expert opinion. Is there any doubt that each and every time he says “sources close to the situation” he is just regurgitating what he is being told to say by members of Kevin Johnsons staff? If you are going to claim to be a journalist then you should have journalistic standards. The dude is something between a blogger and a stooge. Its annoying. Continue reading

Sac/KJ, via a private vetting must convince 8 owners to vote no.
Sac Bee says they have a source with inside knowledge of the the NBA’s thinking.
“A source with inside knowledge of the NBA, who declined to speak for attribution because the NBA has called for a no-talking policy, said the league is clearly signaling it wants a proposal from Sacramento.
“Sacramento has a real fighting chance,” the source said. The NBA “knows how the community has responded to the team. If a deep-pocketed group buys, if the Maloofs get the same amount of money, and an arena set up, it will be difficult for the board of governors to just dismiss that.”"

“Multiple interviews and a review of an internal NBA document suggest Sacramento will get a private vetting by the league long before Mayor Kevin Johnson makes his planned public pitch to NBA owners in New York in April.”
I mostly think this is just cheer leading and tunnel vision, but never really thought about the fact mentioned that Sac proponents only need to convince 8 owners to vote against the Seattle deal, to breathe more life into their own wishful plans.
I propose a new soap opera “As the Aircraft Carrier Turns” :)
Things could get interesting
Now the Kings and Maloofs are going to be hit hard by “what do you do now?” questions. they will be asked “Does this mean you are committing to Sacramento for next year?”
The relocation deadline is March 1. I expect the gossip mill to be in full swing.
Virginia Beach has pulled the plug on efforts to bring the Kings to their market.
“Thus the Kings, who have never publicly admitted they were considering the move to Virginia, will most likely explore other options. Whether it be selling the team to folks in Seattle, perhaps working a deal to move the team to Anaheim, or just staying put in Sacramento.”
