...In your NBA 2K16 world at least. From the Sporting News comes word that the latest iteration of the popular game will allow you to move a team to Seattle and there's not a damn thing David Stern, Clay Bennett, Adam Silver or Howard Schultz can do about it.
From the story:
NBA 2K16 includes Team Relocation in MyGM and MyLeague modes, both of which are forms of franchise modes where the user manages and controls the entire team over the course of multiple seasons. Seattle and Vancouver, the cities that were most recently vacated and have not received another team in the years since, are two of the many options available.
Beyond just placing a team in a new city however are some major features related to customization, as the team's name can be changed and logos, uniforms, and arenas can be designed. That can even be done without relocating a team. There's an extraordinary number of options available, and league realignment will even take place to ensure the conferences and divisions make the most sense.
Sadly, the story doesn't include some of the other aspects of the Team Relocation mode, they are:
1) The Seattle Process mode
Before you can successfully move your team to the Emerald City, you will have to watch a number of local council meetings and sit through a number of public hearings where the councillors will hear from any amount of interest groups and ne'er do wells who will be more than willing to share their opinions whether you want to hear them or not. And once you get through it; an all new council is elected and you have to go through it all again.
2) The Last Minute Local Saviour Mode
The team is on its way to Seattle? Not so fast. A 2K16 regen billionaire is introduced at the last minute! Oh no! Quick, stop him from getting to the Relocation Committee!
3) Social Media Flame War Mode
So you want to move the team to Seattle? OK, but before you can you have to navigate a series of tweets from @fyouseattle telling you that "you should have supported the Sonics in the first place" or "just wait for expansion".
Those are just a few. Any more ideas are welcome in the comments.
