Voice Your Opinion!!

If you haven't seen it already, check out Art Thiel's article about the Aecon Report. In particular, check out the letter from 36 members of the Legislature urging the city council to not vacate Occidental Avenue.

Hint: this whole thing should tick you off.

This letter is full of false claims and rhetoric throughout. The implication that Occidental is crucial to the success of the Port is a flat-out lie. The implication that the new stadium would hurt middle-class jobs is a flat-out lie. The implication that the new stadium would fly in the face of the recently approved transportation budget is a flat-out lie.

The obvious question is, "why would the Legislators write this letter?" Well, in my mind this is either because they really believe what they wrote, or they have lobbyists who have influenced them to sign it. In my mind it is the latter, almost exclusively. Lobbyists are powerful...

So, if you are mad (as I am), what are you going to do about it? My suggestion would be to e-mail your Legislator(s) who signed this thing and let them know what you think! After all, these people work for you and I! Below is a list of all 36, organized by District. If you don’t know what district you live in, use the Legislature’s District Finder Tool.
